To meet the world’s increasing demand of Chinese language, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) has launched a project creating standardized Chinese Language proficiency tests. The Confucius Institute at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa has been authorized as an official Chinese language testing center. The site number for UHM is 962.
The HSK is a series of tests which aim to assess the non-native speakers’ capabilities of applying Chinese language in study, life and work. It consists of Basic, Elementary-Intermediate and Advanced levels.
The BCT aims to assess communicative capabilities while conducting business activities. It consists of listening, reading, speaking and writing.
The BCT serves the need of government departments, enterprises and various universities and colleges of all countries. The test results are important indications for employment and may be used as a reference for universities and colleges to exempt students’ participation in relevant business Chinese language courses.
YCT is a test for non-native Chinese learners under the age of 15. It consists of Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.
